Runners of all levels are welcomed to this iconic event, with its friendly atmosphere, local support, and a finish line unlike any other, inside the historic Wicklow Gaol. Whether you’re chasing a goal or simply soaking up the views, this is a race that stays with you long after you cross the line.

Parking

  • Train station is a 20-minute walk from start.

  • Bus Éireann Route 133 services Wicklow.

  • Please carpool where possible and avoid illegal parking.

Bag Drop

  • Located at Blackcastle, open from 9:00am.

  • Attach the baggage label from your race number.

  • Bring a waterproof bag if raining, as area may not be covered.

Cut-Off Time

General cut-off time: 3 hours 30 minutes (Half Marathon).

  • Half Marathon Runners: 10:30am
  • 10km: 10:45am
  • Multiple waves — faster runners to the front, joggers/walkers to the back. Chip timing ensures your race starts when you cross the line

Route Information

The Wicklow routes blend coastal beauty with countryside challenge. Starting by Wicklow Harbour, runners make their way through scenic seaside roads before heading inland into the rolling terrain of the Garden County. Both races finish inside Wicklow Gaol, a truly unique experience and photo opportunity.

The 10K offers a picturesque loop ideal for a rewarding spring challenge, while the Half Marathon extends deeper into the countryside, combining stunning views with a sense of adventure and achievement.

Are there showers or changing facilities?

No, showers and changing facilities are not provided.

Can I wear headphones?

Yes, headphones are permitted. However, you must stay aware of marshals, Gardaí, pedestrians, and other participants.

Are there toilets on the route?

Yes, at start/finish, plus at 6.5km, 12km & 16km.

Where are the water stations?

10km: 6.5km

Half Marathon: 6.5km, 12km, 16km

Are water stations bottles or cups?

Water is provided in paper cups. Please use the bins provided.

Is the course wheelchair accessible?

Yes this course is wheelchair accessible

Can I walk the race?

We encourage everyone to take the event at a comfortable, manageable pace. However, cut-off times apply to ensure the course can be operated safely (roads reopened, marshals stood down, etc.). If you plan to walk the full distance, you’re unlikely to meet the cut-offs.

Is there a time limit?

Yes, Half Marathon cut-off is 3 hours 30 minutes.

Is there a medal and t-shirt?

All finishers get a unique medal to mark their achievement.

Is there somewhere to leave my bag?

Yes, bag drop is at Blackcastle, which opens from 9:00am.

Is there parking?

Yes, at Wicklow Council Offices and the train station.

When will I get my race number?

All Irish-based entries who signed up before the postal cut-off will receive their number in the post a week before the event. Anyone who signed up after this will have to collect their number. Overseas and incomplete addresses must collect their race number..

Why haven’t I got my race number when others have?

Numbers are dispatched in batches. If yours hasn’t arrived, collect at the Help Desk before the race.

I’m visiting from abroad, how do I get my number?

Your number will be held for you collect at one of the number collection sessions.

I ordered a t-shirt, when will I get it?

Event t-shirts are either posted with your number or to be collected on the night depending on when you signed up. If you ordered additional Bear Races Running apparel this is posted out separately.

Can I drop to a shorter distance?

You can drop to a shorter distance, please note you must let our team know in advance
