Taking place each May Bank Holiday weekend, runners take over the streets of Limerick City, choosing from a full marathon, Relay, half marathon, or 6-mile distance, all set along scenic, closed-road routes that showcase the city’s landmarks, river views, and vibrant atmosphere.

With incredible local support, a festival-like buzz, and a city-centre finish line surrounded by cheering crowds, the Regeneron Great Limerick Run delivers everything you want from a race day; energy, excitement, and a finish you’ll never forget.

Parking

On-street parking is generally free on Sundays (observe signage and restrictions towing is in operation on Race Day).

Participants are encouraged to arrive early due to road closures.

There is a shuttle bus for participants & spectators from Limerick Greyhound stadium from 7.30hrs. Drop off is Scanlon’s Express Pharmacy beside Mount Kennett Place. Shuttle buses will return to Limerick Greyhound Stadium until 18.00hrs. This is free for runners and spectators.

Number Collection

Saturday 1st May
Number collection will take place in the UL Sports Arena on Saturday 1st May from 11am – 4:30pm. If you are due to collect your race number, you MUST get it from UL on Saturday. If you cannot attend in person. Someone else can collect for you as long as they have your QR code.

There is no race day number collection.

Route Information

Three routes, one finish line.
Every Great Limerick Run course starts at Pery Square, runs on closed roads, and finishes together on O’Connell Street, where over 20,000 runners share the final stretch.

Marathon: A flat, scenic route along the River Shannon and out through the University of Limerick, passing Thomond Park before returning to the city centre.

Half Marathon: A gentle loop past the city’s iconic landmarks, joining the Marathon and 6 Mile for the run to the finish.

6 Mile: An approachable tour through the heart of Limerick, ideal for first-timers and anyone who wants the big-race buzz over a shorter distance.
